I'm still working out the intricacies of blogging. At some point I hope to publish pictures and links to places we've visited. In the meantime, I will begin journaling here.

Today I went shopping for some sturdier hiking shoes for our mountain hiking this weekend. I will post the location later today so you can all take a look. Shopping for shoes was a bit challenging. Not only did I not know what size I wore but the clerk spoke no English. I've now figured out that a size 10 in US is a 42 in Poland. I knew I had above average size feet but a 42??? I also bought some hiking shorts and a t-shirt. Once again, the size translations were challenging but I successfully overcame them.

I stood in line at the grocery store today to pay for a Pepsi Light and some water for about ten minutes. Once at the check-out they did not have change so we were all forced to charge our purchases. That struck me as somewhat odd but it was better than getting the equivalent of pennies as change!!

I forgot to tell you yesterday that we ate at an American restaurant last night in the square (Rynek). I wanted to have some food I recognized. My brain starts to hurt figuring out the delicacies here at times! We ended up having wings, but instead of buffalo wings the sauce was made with a Polish vodka. It reminded me of a teriyaki sauce. The appetizer came with wonderful bread and butter with garlic. It was wonderful!!! I believe the Polish people might be slightly confused because the wait staff wore sombreros. I will post a picture when Craig returns home from work.

I still haven't had any desserts here. We found a wonderful greek restaurant and plan to stop there for dessert before Roger and Naomi return to Scotland. They are a couple who will be living here part time. Roger works in the Hillington Scotland 3M facility but his permanent residence is in Israel. It has been fun getting to know Naomi. She has been my exploration partner while the guys work.
