Germany 2 Poland 0

I'm happy to report Wrocław is still in tact and the Rynek remains unspoiled after last night's disappointing loss to the Germans. Ironically, Podoloski (who scored both German goals) has Polish-German dual citizenship so there may be some folks a bit upset. Just as the game finished fireworks lit the sky and horns continued to honk. I'm not sure if there is a large German section in Wrocław or if the long hours of beer drinking helped ease the pain. It's not over until it's over I guess. Next game is Thursday against the host team, Austria. The match starts at 8:45 p.m local time and 1:45 central daylight time if you want to set your DVDs!

Saturday there was an opera performance on the banks of the Odra River. I had been watching the stage and bleachers being set up all week but just found out it was for opera on Friday. We were able to hear the sopranos during rehearsals from our apartment. I understand there will be many musical performances on the river throughout the summer. We will be watching for them.

I start my Polish lessons again tomorrow. I hope it doesn't cause loss of sleep again. I would hate to have my busy life interrupted by lack of sleep! Friday I am going on a tour - led by a rabbi - of the Jewish quarters and cemetery here in town. We will be meeting at a Jewish restaurant for lunch after the tour. I'm looking forward to the tour and to hear more of the Jewish history of this town. Other than that, Oliver gets a haircut on Wednesday and I've got Polish lessons three times. I really shouldn't have any excuses for not getting the laundry done, should I???

I've posted a few new pictures. I've started carrying my camera around everywhere in hopes of capturing other than the spectacular!!!
