On another political front...the "scandalous" (their word) female VP-nominee was pictured prominently on the front page of a Polish newspaper. I could recognize her picture from a mile away!! Obviously, I wasn't able to read the article but found it interesting, nonetheless! Just what do they think of us Americans?
Craig managed to get some time off today so we could go and apply for a credit card at our bank. Last I was told he needed his passport and would need to fill out employment paperwork. WRONG!!! Because we don't direct-deposit his payroll into our Polish account they now need proof of employment on company letterhead! If only all young people's credit applications were taken under such tight scrutiny. Back to ground zero I guess. At this point I'm tempted to do some research to see if there are any American companies that would allow international purchases without the stiff penalties our beloved XXXX tacks on to the purchase price.
The weather has been quite warm lately. Thankfully, the nights are cool and the breeze through our apartment is strong. Not sure I mentioned this but in Poland there are no box springs. Mattresses are placed directly onto the wooden slats of the bed. It was hard enough getting used to dropping so far into bed but now both of our backs are starting to bother us. Last night we blew up the air mattress (which expands to an inflated height of about 3+ feet. We removed the mattress, placed the air mattress on the slats and the mattress on top of that. In spite of the nosebleeds we both felt less stiff this morning. Oliver had to parachute onto the bed and didn't get on or off the bed all night. All of his late night snacking was foiled! This weekend we plan to find an air mattress that is more reasonable in height so we can remove the current eye sore. Now that I've finally got bedding to fit it looks like I will need to hunt some down again. Oh well...I haven't been to IKEA in months!
You have to love Erica!! She got TiVO set up on her home TV set for us. I feel a little like Miranda on "Sex in the City". Remember the episode where the only affair she was having was with her TiVO (season 6 for those not as into the program as I am). I'm addicted! Can't believe how fun it is searching for programs and movies to record. I will get tons of things done in the office now!!! I must admit I may have thrown out a few choice words trying to figure the dang thing out, but my troubles were worth it! I promise not to fore go food or water in pursuit of this new pleasure!
Parting thought...Since the Polish people do not recognize Labor Day how do woman know when to stop wearing white????
