Made it through the first full work week. Craig is enjoying his assignment (thanks for asking, Julie)! He is keeping very busy all day and is happy he made the decision to relocate. It is the longest commute he has ever had to work but it is definitely reasonable - if only the bridge construction was complete. Nothing quite like a Wroclaw traffic jam! Wroclaw is experiencing huge growth in new businesses and the infrastructures are not in place yet to accomodate. It will be fun to watch all the new construction over the next year. This will definitely be a happening place!
Speaking of which..this is the first time I've been here when the University has been in session. What a difference 100,000 or so students make! Wow!!
I took Oliver for a walk to the Square today. There was a Gay Rights march going on. With 95% of Poland Catholic it is fair to say homosexuality is not well received. It was hard to tell where the march began and where the tour groups started! Could make for some interesting pictures somewhere!
I received my first letter from home today. Thanks Julie K. Even the security guard mentioned I had mail - at least I think that is what they told me! It couldn't have come at a better time. Today I had my first good cry! It wasn't pretty! I was so excited to get my computer and wasted no time setting it up. The magical moment came and went as the CBU went up in a big puff of smoke as I plugged it in. Craig was sure it was compatible with the electricity here but something certainly wasn't! I sat on the floor and cried...real tears!! Afterwards, I couldn't find the footprint of Huey (the dog I put down two years ago - he was very special to me)! That led to yet another onslaught of tears! I have since collected myself, found the footprint and am back to computer access only when Craig is home - which really isn't fair to him after being gone all day.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get my puppy from barking when I leave him alone in the apartment please let me know! I don't want the neighbors to hate me without giving me a chance!
Last notes for today:
There are two buttons that flush the toilets. One is large and the other smaller. After experimenting on both toilets I have confirmed one is a super flush and the other the water conservation flush.
Last but not least, what is the big deal about bidets???
Happy weekend!
