We are being inundated with paperwork!!! Obtaining VISAs and a green card for Craig, lists for the movers, culture immersion checklists...it seems everytime we turn around there is another sheet of paper to shuffle through. Since Craig is laid up recovering from today's knee surgery we plan to review and respond to all the questionnaires. Let's hope his mind won't be fuzzy from the percocet! Friday we meet with folks from 3M to walk through the process. The best news?? We will be receiving unlimited Polish language training to a level of social proficiency for me and social/business proficiency for Craig!! I'll let you all know if they are talking my level of social proficiency or some other pre-defined criteria!
On the puppy front: After receiving an estimate of $2500 to ship my puppy one way to Poland I was about to hold a fund raiser but things appear to be looking up. NWA has a VIP pet transport that is much more reasonably priced. I've looked on the Polish consulate site and it doesn't appear they have burdensome restrictions or lengthy quarantines. Keep your fingers crossed!
The movers want to come out yet this week to get an idea of what we plan to ship. Without knowing where we are going to live it may be tough. Many flats are furnished and we can purchase a few things when we get there but the unknown is huge at this point. I hate to say this but I may need a separate shipping container just for my shoes!! Between the puppy and my shoes I'm not sure what is causing the most anxiety!
A small group of Craig's co-workers will be in the US a week from Saturday. Now that we can openly talk about our move it will be nice to pick their brains about the important things like health clubs, vets and hair salons!
For those of you concerned about my language retention I am still able to say hello, good bye, cheers, beer and wine. I hope that isn't considered social proficiency or it will be a long year!
