The paperwork continues to come at us fast and furiously! We had one disappointing piece of news relating to our VISAs and Craig's green card. Evidently it could take up to three months for the Polish counsulate to approve our paperwork which could push our move back to October 1. We still plan to have housing effective September 1 so may have to go back and forth until we can officially be in the country long term.
Couple of interesting tidbits on the process so far:
1) 3M requires us to submit completed security applications. Information requested includes the obvious name, birthdate, hair color (none for Craig - me????? well, let's just say I stated red). Interestingly, we had to submit three handwriting samples and three printing samples along with a dated picture.
2) Ok...brace yourself....my puppy needs a passport!!! It is legitimately a picture passport with puppy information like weight, coloring, etc. I'm still struggling with how I'm going to ship him. I'm now leaning toward carrying him on-board with me. I saw a great carry-on pet carrier just Oliver size. I will need to start getting him accustomed to it.
A group of engineers from Poland will be arriving this weekend to check out plants in the U.S. over the next three weeks. We are planning a barbeque serving all-American foods before they return. That will give me an opportunity to learn some more Polish words.
Today I will be obtaining an international driver's license, renewing my Minnesota drivers license and returning an impulse purchase. Ahhh the life of a retiree!!!
On another front. I hired a lawn and garden service. I really should have Erica pay part of the fee since it relieves her of lawn mowing but I'll be nice and pick it up myself. He is going to be great! I can't wait to get back next year to see the fruits of his labor! I now need to find a snow removal service. Anyone reading this have any ideas be sure to let me know!
I'm off for the day!!! Do widzenia (good by)!!!
