I did it!!! I walked into a hair salon and scheduled an appointment!!! It definitely looks upscale and is pricier than most of the other salons in town (but still inexpensive compared to what I pay in Minnesota). There were NO maroon-heads and there was a wine bar. I hope Esthera is not partaking on Monday!!! Keep your fingers crossed!
It was not as nice yesterday but and the sun was out so Oliver and I took a long walk. I've posted a few pictures.
Today is All Saints Day. It is a very sacred day in Poland and it was evident by how quiet the square was on our walk today. There is virtually nothing open! Funny, but all traffic signals are out except for the very busy intersections. I'm not sure what the rules of the road are when the signals are out but you can imagine how frightening it can be when cars, trams, buses and pedestrians are trying to manuever through the same intersection. We hope some establishments are open later this evening since the refrigerator is far from full and I don't want to go to bed hungry!!!
Craig and I had our second Polish lesson together last night and once again survived! Our instructor used flash cards last night, many of which were pictures of European leaders. While we easily recognize names we don't have many pictures of European leaders in US papers so we struggled a bit in photo recognition and applying attributes to them. At least we knew David Beckham from the soccer world!!
Not much new to report! We stayed up late last night watching "Scary Movie" on HBO. It was pretty funny, actually! I met another American yesterday at the International Friends meeting. He is from Newport Beach, VA so I was able to mention Michael is out in Virginia and talk a little bit about the area and school.
Hope you all survived Halloween. No trick or treaters in Poland. Didn't hurt my feelings because you all know how I feel about Halloween!
