Can you spell LAZY???

My apologies to those who religiously check this blog site for updates and go away bitterly disappointed because of the irregularity of my posting. I guess being a stay-at-home, trophy wife isn't all that exciting even in Poland!!

I have found myself getting more and more lazy. Perhaps it was because Craig was in the UK this week so routine was thrown out the window. I also suffered a bit from homesickness this week. You don' t realize how much you miss conversation, gossip and rumors until you're thrown into a foreign country!! I think I still struggle a bit with guilt over not working. I did work on my cross stitch project every day, made eight cards and threw together two scrapbook pages but still feel like I contribute nothing to our existence. I better get over it because I plan to stay retired upon my return. NOTE: I threw that in to see if Craig still reads this blog. It always gets a rise out of him!!

So what is new...other than Oliver peed on my bed today (maybe I should let him loose without a leash today)!!! I did have an incredible meal at the International Friends meeting on Wednesday. We celebrated the Korean/Japanese New Year. The Korean and Japanese members of the group prepared traditional food. It was fabulous!!! I am going to get a hold of some of their recipes because they were quite tasty! The desserts were far sweeter than I would have expected. I wonder if it is because the sugar is so granular here. Maybe next year I'll have to prepare Korean/Japanese food for Christmas so beware!!!

I drove to the grocery store this week because I needed to buy heavier items and walking a mile with milk, water and soda is not pleasant! Sorry to those who walked barefoot through snow uphill both ways to school....but I had to whine a little. I must admit I hate driving in this town! Give me the autobahn anyday!! I had another feeling of insignficance at the store. As I was getting out of the car I heard a Polish voice yelling, "Oliver, Oliver (pronounced Oh-lee-vair)". Turning around I saw one of the guards that no longer work in our building. She was always his favorite. Seeing as she knows my name I was somewhat put off that she yelled for the dog. I had to let her play with him for about 10 minutes (while her chicken - kurczak - got cold). Even though I don't know much Polish I did find that a hug is universal. I haven't found too many Polish people willing to hug me yet so that was nice!

I've been meaning to share a couple of tidbits I learned from our Polish instructor. Bear in mind we speak nothing but Polish in class so finding out anything is monumental!!!

1) You are 19 when you finish school here.
2) You have to be 19 to drive here.
3) It costs 1200 zlotys to get the piece of paper we call a driver's license.
4) With the cold and flu season upon us keep this recipe handy. I'm told it is a natural antibiotic: warm milk, butter and garlic. Heat it up and drink hardy!!
5) She loves Jack Nicholson and the NBA.

Last but not least...how do you tell a very drunk man his fly is down???? I had that situation yesterday. He did the usual "te te te te" to my dog when I was out walking and all I could see was his shirttail sticking out of his fly. I said, "I don't speak Polish" and bolted around the corner. I wonder what other trophy wives would have done.

Erica and Michael: Love you tons and miss you more!
