Just Notes

We had another beautiful weekend! Believe it or not we are finding trees and bushes beginning to bud out! I definitely do not miss Minnesota winters! We walked the parkway that circles the city. It will be a wonderful walk in the spring and summer! I've been forgetting to mention the beautiful swans on the Odra River. I've never seen so many swans in one place outside a zoo. It is fun watching the kids feed them.

Just to ramble on with some quick notes:

1) Both "Stomp" and "Lord of the Dance" are coming to Wrocław in early March. I am pretty sure I convinced Craig it would be fun to go to one of the performances but it looks like he will luck out again. Apparently he will be heading back to Taiwan around that time. I guess I may have to settle for Avril Livigne when she comes this summer!

2) Speaking of tickets...Since you pay your bills at the post office it makes perfect sense to me you would purchase venue tickets at the TRAIN STATION!!! That is another, "huh"!!!

3) We were not able to stay up long enough for the Super Bowl but when channel surfing for any pre-game activities we ran across the Minnesota Swarm professional lacrosse team playing San Jose. The Polish announcers say "Minnesota" funnier than Fargo natives!

4) There is no cheddar cheese in Poland. Wisconsin must have used the international supply on those cheddar-heads!

5) I saw a commercial with Penelope Cruz this weekend. It was strange hearing it in Polish...

6) Remember the run on carp at Christmas? It seems they purchase the carp and keep them alive in their bathtubs until Christmas. Evidently that is their way of "detoxing" the fish. I'll stick with turkey!

7) It is officially "carnvale" time in Poland. There are many celebrations prior to the lenten season. Kind of like Mardi Gras without the beads. Although, we did see a priest with a bright pink hat and a nun with a brilliant blue veil on Sunday!!

Not much else to report. We start back on our Polish lessons tonight. We can now count to 2000 - not fast - but we can!
