Just some thoughts and updates...
Sunday we visited the Botanical Gardens on the Tumski. The gardens were beautiful and the weather incredible. Oliver found it a bit hot at times so I had to force him out of the shade periodically. Thankfully there was some watering going on so he was able to get some water in cracks in the sidewalk. Poor guy. He will be getting another haircut next week. The owner of the boarding kennel has made the arrangements for me. She is even willing to pick him up and take there for me! She told me she has his picture on her cell phone. I think she likes him!!
With temperatures in the 80's the "deodorant optional" mentality is rearing it's ugly head! Every once in awhile I have to take a whiff of myself just to be sure it isn't me!! Dang...I think tram rides won't be happening in the near future - unless absolutely necessary!
Warm weather brings out provocative dress that's for sure! It might actually explain the high number of pregnant woman around town! I'm not necessarily ready to say all the dress is "stylin' and happenin' but it definitely offers alternative viewing pleasure - at least for Craig!
Today I was a guest judge of an American History contest at the American Center in the Rynek. The American Center is an off-shoot of the American Consulate in Krakow and offers a place for residents and visitors to be exposed to American literature, movies, magazines, etc. It is housed in the main library. I was incredibly impressed with the students! One of the schools represented was made up of 13 years olds - competing against high school students! I've saved the questions and will post them out here later. You will be surprised at how much - or little - you really know about our history and culture. The kids REALLY did well on the must and video sections of the contest. I guess kids are always kids regardless of residence.
My landlord stopped by yesterday to ask if I would be willing to appear on local TV to talk about the apartment and complex we live in. They are coming to film me on Friday. It ought to be an interesting interview since my language skills are limited to "hello, good bye, thank you, sorry, excuse me and glass of red wine please. More to follow on this adventure!
Keep those cards and letters coming.....
