Our Polish challenge of the weekend was the purchase of a box spring. We got some great advice and were able to walk to the store to see if it was even worth our time to drop back in. As luck would have it, they had something that closely resembled a box spring and it was a great price! We returned later with our car and rope so we could tie it to the top of our Ford Mondeo - we were ready!! Our luck ran out when the only mattress left had been placed on hold (must be another American with a bad back)! Fortunately, the clerk spoke English or it would have been a real nightmare (which means you are sleeping - which I haven't been lately)! They are getting a shipment of three on Friday. Only four more days of sleeping on an air mattress. I have been assigned the task of not losing the very important paperwork indicating we already purchased the mattress and they are honoring the sales price. I love the special instructions he wrote on the receipt: "Kontakt po Angielsku tylko" short for "the Americans haven't bothered to learn Polish". Actually it says the client can only speak English, I'm reading between the lines!
It was wedding weekend here. There was not a church in town without a blushing bride outside. That's a lot of brides with all the churches in this town! We sat outside St. Elizabeth's and watched as one wedding finished just in time for the next to take place. There wasn't even 30 minutes in between! I noticed that every guest brought a very elaborate floral bouquet to the wedding as a gift to the bride and groom. I have no idea the significance so I goggled "Wedding traditions in Poland". I found a lot of pretty interesting traditions but nothing about flowers. Guess I will have to wait until Wednesday when I meet up with some Polish folks at the International meeting. Craig figures the brides must have to cut corners so they can afford the hotel rooms and vodka consumed at Polish weddings so the guests feel an obligation to bring the reception flowers! I'll let you know what I find out!
As we were out enjoying the beautiful weather on Saturday it dawned on me this was the first summer in 30+ years (which brings me well into my infancy) that I did not EVER get sunburned!! My dermatologist really got into my head didn't she?? I guess two skin biopsies will do that to a person, huh??
Poor Erica...she finally finished school, got herself an incredible job at a great hospital and then learns about being a "big person" in a big way. She had an emergency room visit closely followed by her car dying. It just isn't fun having to use your first paychecks for anything other than chocolates and shoes (oh wait, that's me...)! Anyway...hang in there Erica!!!
Time to move on to bigger and better things (Brothers and Sisters is on in the other room)! Have a good start to a great week!

Wow, I'm really shocked. I mean - you tell things about Poland in a little different way than we can see'em.
It's really nice to see how are you doing in Poland. I always though that no one from America would've move to Poland. And now I see that I was wrong. I'll be reading your blog, cheers.
