ARGH........

How can a seven pound dog with 3 inch legs outrun me???? Today someone left one of the courtyard doors open and, as luck would have it, Oliver (Kielbasa) decided to punish me for not taking him for a walk yesterday and he bolted! Dang him...The closer I got the faster he would run. I was feeling pretty confident he wouldn't run out on to the major roads because he usually cowers at intersections but he did play dodge the taxi near the hotel down the block. At one point I was hoping he would get hit but with my luck it probably wouldn't have killed him - forcing me to find a quick route to the veterinarian. I snagged him and am officially not talking to him AND...he is going to get a bath just because.....

It was also a bad week for Polish lessons. I was near tears on Monday but seem to have rebounded slightly. Maybe it was because we learned the word for "free" and "on sale"!! Since Craig is in the UK next week I officially have a week off to regain my confidence.

I have found, not one, but two yarn stores. Whoppee....if anyone wants anything in puke green or army surplus brown than I found the store for you! I have another store to try - maybe next week! If this crochet-thing works out I may have to stock up on my return home in May.

I stopped by a travel agency to check out some winter vacation spots. Right now we are considering Egypt, Turkey, Croatia and Cyprus for warmer destinations. I have to get Craig to commit to some dates so we can do some better searching. I also have some suggestions for some long weekend destinations. At the top of my list right now is Copenhagen. We can get there directly from Wrocław for about $150. I also want to visit Prague (hopefully, via train), Dresden and Berlin. Vienna is also near the top of our list. I want to save Milan and Bareclona for spring. Now we just have to make it happen.

Last, but not least....the list of foods I prepared for the 13-course Polish Christmas dinner:

Mushrooms Escargot (Pieczarki a la ślimaki)
Onion Soup (Zuba cebulowa po polsku)
Noodles with poppyseed (Kluski z makiem)
Sweet cabbage (Słodka kapusta)
Potato dumplings (Kopyta / Kluski kartoflane)
Fruit compote (Kompot)
Cheese pierogi (Pierogi z serem na słono)
Sauerkraut and peas (Kapusta z grochem)
Stuffed cabbage (Gołąbki) This was in place of the traditional Carp
Potato bacon pierogi (Pierogi z kartoflani)
Crepes with cheese (Naleśniki z serem)
Kutia (Kutia)
Poppy seed bread (Makowiec)

At last check all relatives served were alive and well!
