This is my second posting for today so be sure not to miss my tittilating diaglogue that follows...
I have a challenge for you so please pay attention. I am looking for a book by Norman Davies titled "Microcosm". It is a historical book that chronicles the history of Wrocław/Breslau (when under German control). It is said to be an incredible read about the history of not only Wrocław but captures the "feel" of Europe during some very tumultous times. I have discovered the book is out of print but is available. I checked Amazon, etc. and have found the book but have yet to find anyone willing to ship it to Poland for less than the cost of an airline ticket. Since I've grown bored finding alternative sites on the web I was hoping some of you more "specialized" web surfers might be able to help me out - or may know of an outlet that might carry this type of book. I'll be back stateside in May so would be willing to pick it up then to save postage - plus it would be a great read for anyone really curious about this place! Interestingly enough, the local bookstore here in Wrocław that carries a pretty fair collection of English-language books had it; however, it was in Polish...dang, my Polish language skills are far from adequate enough to even attempt this read!! Please e-mail me at camaz55@comcast.net if you have any luck!
For those of you who anxiously await updates on my newest hair color you need not wait any longer. I changed it up this time. I went auburn with champaign highlights...I feel like a million bucks! We'll see what Craig thinks when he gets back from inclimate Taiwan (ha...)! He tends to like the blonder side of me!!
I was also fortunate enough to sit next to an English-speaking Norwegian today at the hair salon. I found out I can fly to Norway for about $90 roundtrip. I may have to add that to my list of places to visit while living in Europe. She was a strikingly, beautiful blonde of course.
One of the benefits of sitting next to an English-speaking patron is the fact she already scoped out the English-language magazines! I have now read three different summaries of the New York, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks - and if I see the same Stella McCartney dress I think I will puke!! Guess what is back in style yet again??? The 70's high waisted pants, platform shoes, midi/maxi dresses and LSD-inspired colors and patterns. The one trend I KNOW I won't follow is the move toward jumpsuits. I, for one, must pee long before I would be changing outfits. Not sure how one delicately undresses from a $3000 jumpsuit to enable bodily functions to be performed. Not a particularly enticing scenario.
Enough for today. Someone I know and love needs to be walked.
