There are always "things" I want to write about and inevitably forget - not sure if it is age related or I start getting wordy the minute I sit down at the computer to capture my thoughts out here. At any rate I'm going to revert back to one of my infamous ramblings....
1) We have mistletoe trees here. I always thought mistletoe was an invention of some love-obsessed person in need of a reason to buss during the holiday season - but NO - mistletoe is real!! I will take some pictures to prove it. But it is fascinating to look up in trees and see these massive, circular bunches. I wonder what will happen when the trees leaf out? Right now the trees are leafless so it is very evident.
2) It is once again 50 degrees at 10 in the morning! I really like winter in Poland. We have slept with our bedroom window open EVERY night since we've been here. Since Craig doesn't get hot flashes and still remains comfortable I believe this attests to the relative warmth here.
3) Speaking of weather...Craig is in Taiwan where temperatures should be must nicer than in Poland. I just spoke to him and it is 35 degrees and windy. Better yet, the buildings in Taiwain are not heated because "they don't need it"! I guess he will need to cuddle with his co-workers to get through his meetings!
4) I will never understand Polish TV. Unlike the US where shows start on the hour or half hour, shows here start when they start. They have very few commercial breaks, and when they do they begin with word "reklama" which literally means "commercial". Guess they don't want anyone to think the show sells soap. It is so cool to watch a re-run of an American show where it fades into a commercial break but no commercial appears. An hour show is typically 40 minutes here. I love it!!! Which leads me to the carpal tunnel I'm developing fast-forwarding through the shows I've recorded on Slingbox. I swear every five minutes I'm reaching for the remote. I'm not complaining because I'm loving watching "American Idol", "Brothers and Sisters", "Project Runway" and "Make me a Supermodel"!!! Remember, I'm retired and can indulge myself periodically!!!
That's it for now...I'm off to the hair dresser!!!
Hugs...
